You are all going to hate this, but there really is not any monumental progress to report. As I mentioned last week, the boys are primarily focusing on eating on their own from bottle and breast. They are still very intermittent with this, and really depends on how tired they are and what mood they are in. On New Year's Eve Jackson took his entire bottle (53mls) at one feed, and hasn't done it since. Aiden has not yet taken a full bottle on his own - not even close. So, yes this is going to take some time. It is ultimately up to the boys on how much and when they will take their bottles.
The boys are still hanging tight at 2 liters of oxygen flow, at about 25-30% concentration. They should start to wean down again very soon. The boys will not have any further head ultrasounds before they are discharged. Neither boy had PVL (brain damage) and Aiden's bi-lateral grade 2 periventricular hemmorhage (brain bleed) was the same in the 30 day scan as it was on the day 3 scan.
Jackson hit the 7 lb mark tonight! Aiden was not weighed when we called, but he was 6 lbs 6 oz. Both boys are roughly 18 inches long now. Today, they are also 39 weeks gestation or 13 weeks actual age. If you can believe it, they will not be full term until next Tuesday.
Wow, they are getting so big! I guess all our Christmas gift outfits will need to be returned for larger sizes and that's certainly a good thing! Can't wait to meet them in person!
